600e problems

I'm currently on a trans African trip and the xt's been going really well up until Ethiopia. I've a leak from one of the welds on the frame type oil tank and the bike is running very rich! Please if any one has any info on tuning a bike for high altitude, oil capacity including oil filter cavity and valve clearances, it would be appreciated.

Many thanks
Daryl

Daryl,
Unless somone knows better:
I wanted to tune my carb in Ethiopia as well, however the only way to do this seems to be by changing the jets for high altitude.
All I did was to cleann the carburettor occassionally, the bike didn't seem to have suffered any long-term damage from being run on the wrong jets for 4000km.

I don't have a manual with me now so can't give you the figures you are looking for.

Geoff
