3AJ sump guard

Does anyone know if the sump/bash plate from a 1896 3AJ will fit on my 2003 4PT?
I assume the engine is pretty much the same but not sure about the frame and if it will fit straight onto my bike.

Same question for the 3AJ seat fitting onto my bike?
I get sore after even 20 minutes riding on the standard 4PT plank.

I cant say for sure, but I fabbed a bash plate up for mine from a piece of old street sign. thick enough to take abuse, and have some ability to bend/give if needed.

I could bend something resembling a bashplate out of some aluminuim sheet but the ones I see like CRD are made out of a few pieces and welded.
I don't have any welding gear.

Just wondered if the 3AJ would fit straight on.

the plate I built, I did no welding, just made a few marks, drilled my holes for mounting, bent it, done.

but the welded stuff would probably be even stronger I suspect.

Bash plate will fit, but you must create new mounting points.

Seat, could be difficult to fit, there is chance that you will have to change tank, seat, side covers and rear plastic. Maybe it would be easier to give your 4PT seat to Corbin (Corbin Motorcycle Seats & Accessories | Yamaha XT 600 | 800-538-7035) so they can make your seat more comfortable. Or buy something like AirHawk cushion www.airhawk.co.uk

Corbin is (relatively) expensive, but having had one of their seats on my old 1000R, ABSOLUTELY worth it. your rear end will appreciate it. they're VERY comfortable. if the bike hadnt been such a piece of crap, I would have ridden it more extensively across the state.

That said, $300 or so or a corbin is totally worth it. believe me, I miss that seat.

Thanks for the replies, I appreciate it.

Good to know the sump plate will fit, no problem making new mounting points.

That Courbin seat does look comfortable, looks good too.
The 3AJ seat looks comfortable but not so stylish, bit blocky.

I had been looking at Welcome to the Frontpage which is a couple of counties from me.
The can add 1" of foam, recover and post back the seat for around £100.

The thing is the original seat looks good where it meets the rear mudguard.
I never carry a pillion so would like to keep that part thin.
I could always buy some foam and try to cut it and shape it.

The 3AJ seat is not comfortable. Too narrow and a bit too soft. 4 hours in the saddle was all I could take before my misery ruined the day.
