3AJ fork oil

Hi guys, sure this must have been asked before but anyone know how much oil in my forks legs in my 3AJ Tenere? & what grade oil works best?

Also looking for tyres purely for road use, only ones I can find that do an 18" rear are Avon Distanzias, anyone tried 'em.... any good?

Thanks Geoff

For my xt600e its around 570ml. A good indicator is around 16-14cm from the top, with the legs fully compressed without springs. Stock is 10W.

I run mefo "stonemaster" mfc12 and love them. Great in just about every condition. Might not suit you, but i sure like them.

Hi Geoff,

From my 3AJ Yamaha Service Information manual:

Oil Capacity: 517cc
Oil Level: 120mm From top of inner tube fully compressed without spring.
Oil Grade: 10W

Having quoted that, I can't remember what I put in my own 3AJ, probably 10W.

I guess the weight depends what type of riding you do.

Cheers!

I run 10W in my 1VJ (same fork essentially) - seems pretty good to me.

Tyres - I'm running Pirelli MT21s on and off road, as they're cheap and hard wearing, but for purely road use, I've heard good things about the MT61s from mates with KTMs.
