1vj rear puncture

hello i have recently got a puncture in my rear tyre i have got the wheel off and i have got some tyre levers but i am really having a problem levering the tyre off, it feels as though the tyre is too tight or i need six foot levers and although i have some rim protectors i feel as though i will distort the rim with the pressure i have tried to use, so how does anybody change a tyre or fix a puncture on a journey any tips/suggestions would be really appreciated thank you

take the valve out the tube and make sure the bead of the tyre opposite to where your levering is free to drop into the centre of the rim to give the tyre the most slack as possible it just takes a bit of practice

balance yourself on top of the tire right next to the rim with both feet and apply pressure untill the tire gets loose from the rim only then your clear to use the tire irons!

I've seen a friend of mine taking a michelin off my rear rim in less than a minute!
It took less than 4 minutes to do all the work of taking off, fitting a new tube and refitting the tire... I was dazzled! LOol

crikey thats a good tool he is using to steady the wheel very useful i will try and get the tyre off using some tips from your replies thank you oh and by the way do you reckon the man on youtube pinched his innertube going like a bull in a chinashop i noticed they dont show you him pumping it up lol :-) thanks for you replies greatly appreciated

He has a mousse which is basically a solid inner tube used mostly in desert racing to avoid punctures

I know your concern, I fixed a puncture in my Moto X bike has a kid and after re-fitting the tyre I had 19 punctures lol.

I'ma make one of those for me!

Just... how exactly does the rim lay over those round circular tubing?
Isn't that forcing the spokes a bit?

That one is a very easy one to build!

BUT, I would love to make one of these:

You can actually buy the needed tool end tips to make this!
It can also work with car wheels/rims with the correct rim holder tips!

Which one would be the best to use with Tubed rims?

a bead breaker like he used in the vid is a real handy tool if your gonna change a lot of tyres but if you only need to do the odd puncture repair squeezing the tyre with a G clamp works just as good i even used one of those workmate type workbenches to do the same thing plus it meant i could work standing up

1vj rear tyre

hoorah i got my rear tyre off because i gave it a bit more force than the first time because i thought its got to come off so i used rim protectors and plenty of effort and hey presto Now i have another question does any one know why my innertube ripped the valve out and my rim tape is like rubber powder which i can just brush off i wonder if it could be just old or could it be that my tyre pressure was too low so it allowed the tyre to move round the rim when i give it some throttle ? also thanks to everyone with your tips as usual this forum rocks !!!!

the inner tube has a white powder inside of it. that's where it came from.

did you forget to take the tube locking nut?? (it happens trust me)

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love.
