1VJ exhaust on a 34L/55W

Does anyone know with a high level of certainty if the silencer from the 1VJ fits on the 34L/55W?

Looks identical, have phoned Yamaha and all they can tell me is its not the same part but they can't say why?

Anyone on here in the know?

Many thanks in advance

Andy

Yes and no

Geometrically it will fit, give or take the odd strip you'll have to make hang firmly on your bike.
Functionwise, the 1VJ exhaust is a 55W exhaust with the expansion chamber left out.
This means, it does not function as superb as the 55W exhaust which very good for power, fuel consumption.

I have the wrong exhaust on my 1vj, An original XT600 one, but dont know what series, I suspect newer. The problem that I have is the alignment of the silencer mount onto the rearmost seat mount.
My wrong exhaust (for the 1VJ) must also fatter than the 1VJ exhaust so it has burnt a hole in the rear plastic, and I have now got a method of holding it away.
The Down pipes are the same size and alignment so this is not an issue, I would imagine that you wont have a problem this end. However its all a bit fiddly down there when your trying to make it fit with the 1VJ oil tank, dont know about your bike though.

If youre having issues with the 1vj exhaust and its an older one and youre in Kent, Rochester way, drop me a line we can see if mine is the right one for your bike.
Alternatively you may know something intelligent like a way of me identifying what I have fitted to my bike.

Cheers G
