18" Front tyre for TDM 850 - Anything ???

Im struggling to find a decent duel purpose tyre for my new TDM 850. There is good road rubber available with the Metzeler roadtec Z6's but so far I cant find anything a bit knobbly for the rough stuff...

Any ideas ?? I dont really want to put an 18" rear TKC80 on the front

I think you're probably aware that people have successfully done as you suggest, put an 18" rear on the front, reversed. I'm not sure you'd even have to reverse a TCK80 as the tread pattern doesn't look directional. Have you talked to the guys on CarpeTDM? I'd love to see some pictures when you get "knobblies" fitted to the TDM.

Here's a guy who's done just that in OZ.

Have a look at a Bridgestone TW26 [rear tyre reversed ] it might be what you are looking for .
Heidenau do a 90/90- 18 and 110/80 -18 front [ k60] .

If I remember right the early ones had a 110/80/18 and later ones had a 120/70/18. I'm not sure about the 90/90/18.

The tread pattern directional isn’t only the problem; also the way than they fit the internal plies are important. So even on the Contis than looks similar for both sides fit reversed and try to don’t look for the maximum speed ……….hehehe!!!!!
Nice bike dude….., post a picture also here so other can admire too.
Saludos y buenos mates.

Yes you are right. Depending on the type of ply, you have to be careful.. Should be ok at slow speeds but like some know, i have a tendancy to go too fast offroad heh heh !!

Ill post a pic when its all finsihed !!!
