How many women riders here and else where, that you know of ,, have done cross continent.
Solo?
Two women?
Tandem with a male?
Tiffany we all know already ,, she doesn't count ;)

Loads of us SJ, loads of us! Three of us are going across the Sahara on scooters in March ( me, Debz and Nadsicles) and then across Russia, Mongolia and more in the summe, in various combinations. See, we got the vote and now we can't help oursleves.

& what of Lois, (who has done 2 trips on her own, Africa & south america?)
or Sabina (don't know her last Name), there are a few others but have forgotten there names at the mo

i drove with my husband 7 months in all off south-america i drove a BMW F650 with to muth luggage :-). On this trip we met 3 other copples, 2 canadian and one german. one we met in chile, one in argentina and the other in ecuador. We started this trip because we met a copple the year before in argentina. All the copples we met where the same: woman drove here on bike !! so lady's are doing good i think !!! keep riding

During my year around south america with my husband (riding my own bike! This trip was my dream, my idea and I organised all including choice of bikes routing etc...) I met:

4 germans girls riding solo in Viedma;
Several north american and canadian women riding solo in Viedma or ushuaia;
Sandra (Javier's wife) in BAs;
A Spanish Lady (wife of Xfiltrate) in BAs and Viedma;
several couples riding each their own bike;
3 couples riding 2 up in Viedma: at least 2 because of budget issues rather than because the woman did not want to ride;
Probably more ladies but I cannot remember for now....

in Vietnam: met a canadian girl riding her own bike, travelling with her brother;

Around Europe: too many to mention.
In the UK: Many!

If you get the chance to get to the UK HU Meeting at Ripley you will see what I mean! As Anonymous group says; "We are legion!" :D

I did Sydney to London last year with my husband. Me on my little Xt250 and him on his DR 650. Just managed to get my bike English registered recently so looking forward to getting out and about on it again!

There are a fair number of us out there, including Sherri-Jo Wilkins and others.

My contribution was 25,500 solo km's from Victoria, BC, Canada to Yaviza, Darien, Panama and back in March, April, May 2010.

Japanese lady riders
 

Couple of years ago I met 2 Japanese girls riding Suzuki 250 Jebels from Cape Town back Japan or as far as they would get. We were in a Landcruiser doing a double trans Africa. The girls were not travelling together all the time but hooked up for the tough stretches. We travelled for a couple of weeks with one of them through Ethiopia, Sudan and Egypt and she told us her story.

They both entered a contest by Suzuki what they would do when they were given a new Jebel! They fantasised about crossing Africa and they won and they got the new bikes from Suzuki and were send of to South Africa! From that moment they were on their own. They spoke only very little English and had no clue about mechanics at all, as matter of fact they could not really drive bikes but they were funny and charming as hell.
I know one of them (Noriko) made it all the way to India and then was fed up with the travelling and got back home.

We travelled for 5 weeks together and those were excellent weeks and I got to know and appreciate a bit of the Japanese culture and habits.

Travels
 

Hi passed my big bike test four years ago but ride pillion on our world travels.

Need to post another three posts so that I can reply to emails, so please bear with me. :mchappy:

New Zealand
 

Our first trip, which turned into three visits over three years, meant that we rode around NZ north and south islands - what a beautiful place, so what do we do with the bike that my partner Keith bought over there? Ship it over to Australia of course.

Australia
 

We toured around the Australian perimeter in two trips, loved Tasmania - a biker's paradise.

OK Aus completed - where now, ship over to Timor-Leste and Indonesia via Darwin.

Post no. 4

Timor-Leste
 

Loved Dili, but what an eye opener and an introduction to pot-holed and incredibly overcrowded roads.

Onwards into Indonesia, visiting Flores, Sumbawa, Lombok and Bali.

Return to Bali in a few weeks time to complete the island, then onwards to Java, Sumatra, Malaysia and Thailand - can't wait to get there.:wave::wave:

I'm currently in New Zealand solo on a BMW f650GS - been here 2 1/2 months and leaving 2 April.

I've ridden solo from Alaska to the Mexican border but not in a straight line!! then from Toronto down to Florida - about 18,000 miles total.

None bike stuff - I lived in a Merc Unimog for a year and drove across Europe to Ukraine then back to France and though Morocco down to Ghana.

Next:

I'm riding in Mongolia for a month on the way back to the UK.

Planning a ride up thorough South America starting in January.

Kate
