The Global Women Who Ride Project

Hello everyone, I am looking for interesting motorcycling women to profile as part of a new project called "Global Women Who Ride". My aim with this project is to highlight women motorcyclists across the globe and provide an insight into what a motorcycle rider in another country looks like, what she loves about riding in her particular part of the planet, and what commonalities and differences there are in her riding experiences vs. those of other riders.

I hope to cover a woman rider from every country across the planet. These riders will be featured in my blog and hopefully eventually also be a part of a full-color coffee table book at some point, if I can find a publisher.

The kinds of people I am looking to profile are very simply - people who identify as women and are passionate about motorcycling. The more diversity the better! By diversity, I refer to variety of experiences, passions, stories, ages, appearances, abilities etc. No experience is too small or unimportant! More than one person per country is ok too!

I anticipate that participation in the project will take up 1-2 hours of your time where you fill out a small questionnaire and email it back to me with a few high quality photographs of you with your bike. We can also do a Skype call if you don't like typing.

Knowledge of fluent English is not a strict requirement! I also have access to a lot of people who speak languages other than English who could help with translation, if the rider in question is more comfortable speaking another language.

If you are a female rider who would like to be a part of this project, please contact me! If you know of a female rider in your country or another country who you think would be a good candidate for this project, please connect her to me as well. You can reach me at womenwhoride@red-baroness.net.

If there are other forums where you think I should post, please let me know.

More details on this project can be found in these two links:

Thanks in advance and look forward to hearing back!

Thumbs up Helping Rashmi

What a great idea Rashmi.
I think it sounds like a great project - something that will raise the profile of women motorcyclists all over the world, it's not about those of us who travel to these places.
So, for anyone reading this, please do get in touch with Rashmi, particularly if you are from countries other than the UK and America. Also, something else we can do is plunder our address books and send her the contact details of women we have met on our travels, with their permission naturally. I've put her in touch with women riders from Ecuador to Siberia, I'm sure between us we can do a lot more.

Very exciting project!...I am a ladyrider from Iceland, although living in DK at the moment. I would be happy to participate although I don't really have any good photos of me and my better half (bike). i will be riding around Iceland this summer and will have some good photos from that trip, if you don't need it right away ... good luck Brynja

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
