Yamaha XT660R
 

Hi,
I'm new to the forum and thought that I would post a review of the new XT660R.
Good points: Outstanding on-road handling and stability. Fuel consumption 65 - 78 mpg. Off road ability is adequate if you take it easy. Very comfortable. Engine is smooth for a single. All day 70mph cruising. Superb headlight.
Bad points: The cosmetic finish is terrible! Scratched and glazed painted plastics come as standard. Decals are already peeling off without the aid of a jet wash. For such a pricey bike it has a very cheap feel.

I have only done 3,300 miles and it has been without any problems so far. I did a "getting to know you" trip to Scotland of 1400 miles in a week and on this trip consumption was 74 mpg, including 500 miles of 70+mph Motorway work. Oil consumption has been nil and after a couple of top ups, coolant has remained constant for 2,000 miles.

All in all I am pleased with my choice of bike, but I am very surprised that it is so poorly finished.
