Yamaha XT600E VS BMW F650 Dakar

Alaska - Chile 2008.

Iv got a 2003 Xt600E and im pretty happy with it so far as commuting. BUT... I took a 60Kg passenger the other day and it really struggled. Its very underpowered. Just imagining what 100 kilos will be like has got me wondering if its just too weak.

The non adjustable suspension and bad brakes are also dreadful too but its a very relaible and simple bike (the reason I bought it)

Now im tempted on trading it in for a newish F650 dakar for improved power, handling and comfort but on that front i fear injection complications and lack of BMW parts available in SA.

You think this will be a good idea ?

Still no info on this ???

How about just about powerwise ? Will the F650 pull harder and heavier than the XT ???

I'd take the XT.

Why do you need 100 kgs of stuff? Try to cut it back to 30 kg.

Good luck.

Well. She didnt move with a 60 kilo passenger. The luggage rack and boxes will weight 20K (guess) alone and 30-50k of luggage. Add 23L of fuel and i aint going nowhere quick.

The F650GS pumped out 50bhp and 60Nm Torque compared with 42Hp of the XT. Beemer is a bit heavier though.
