Yes, the usual Yamaha pisstake pricing, £5200 plus a bit more! new Vmax at £21500, the SR is more than a honda 500 twin.

Not a factor for me. The competitor is the Enfield which has similar pricing and performance but possibly more support to balance lower component quality. There is also dealer reaction to trade in, you don't know the real price until you try for a deal and Yamaha dealers are better placed to shift what I own now.

If price was a factor I could look at dozens of second hand bikes including real classics of various sizes on e-bay for 2-grand but would have to deal with the MOT and PO bodges. If I wanted more performance (and weight) there are dozens of choices starting with New Bonnevilles.

I wonder if the Yamaha dealers get it though. If they don't it'll go the way of the Kawasaki W650/800. I tried to buy a W650 in 2004. The dealer told me I really wanted some snot coloured plastic missile as I could then break a larger number of traffic laws for the same initial outlay :confused1:

I wonder how it is compared to the "original" Sr500

I went with the Moto Guzzi V7. 300 mile range, tubeless tyres, a dealer who seemed interested and an extra few HP.

Still love the SR and hope to own one one day.

The Guzzi has quite a few more HP of course (about 50% more).

This latest version of the SR is starting to appear in the second owner market as a one year old bike with around 20% depreciation compared with the list asking price when new: naturally, we don't know if anyone paid the list price at new but that is possible given the lack of supply across the dealerships when first brought to the UK.

I have noticed that as well, good because I think yamaha overshoot the price significantly. I can buy already new one from 2014 with 10% discount.

but perhaps it is a pain for the older riders....

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love.
