I am looking to get a BMW bike for which I plan on doing some longer rides, which might include the odd dirt road. I am trying to make my mind up on which bike to buy. The bikes I am thinking of are (they are all very differnet): the R100RS, R1100gs, R1150gs or the R1150rt. Can anyone give me a reason as to why I should look at one more so than another? I heard there are some issues with the R1100gs transmissions? What is the problem that the R1100gs bikes have?
Is there any reason why I should not at the R1150rt? Will it handle the odd dirt road alright?
Any information would help.
