Which 250 is best ?

Hi,
I am interested in buying a small 250 or 350 for travelling. No extrem off road but remote areas. So reliability and economy is very important. I am going alone and very light. I was thinking about the Honda nx250 as it is very light and supposed to use little gas. Second choice would be the Dr350 from Suzuki. My budget is around 1500 EUR.
Also, is it true, that those little engines take quite a lot of fuel when used in higher speed, like on the highway? Like almost as much as the 600 singles?
Thanx for your answers

I have had numerous small trail bikes and have done some good milages on them.

I found the best to be an XLR250 as it seems it's not as an extreme engine as the XR250 so will drink less fuel and last longer, in reality though they seem about the same (both very good).
The suspention is a little soft compared with an XR but unless your doing an enduro or going over dunes then it's fine and better on your bum.
Ive found all the 250 4 strokes are good up to 60 miles an hour but over that there strained unless geared for speed but then power is lost.
If a RTW trip is being considered I'd get bearings retro fitted to the cams as they do wear out.

Hello

I have a MZ TS 250/1 ( 1979 ) - I`ve done some travels on it so far and it proves very good.
Fuel consumption - about 3,0 l / 100 km ( at 65 - 85 km/h ) If faster it takes more.
The tank can take 17,5 litres so the distance coeverd by my MZ is up to 580 km in theory .So far I`ve managed to do 592 km on one tank.
However it`s a 2 stroke, 5 gears. But it`s very long-living as for a 2 stroke ( up to 60 000 km with the engine untouched ) and surpsisingly reliable - good old german make.
It has 19 HP

greetings from Poland
