With the reported same engine as the Crf450 that was launched a month or two ago with oil change intervals at every 1000 kms and valvecheck/adjustment every 3000 kms - I doubt anyone will call it suited travel or overlandbike.

But it sure got the look....

If they make just a bigger version of crf250L it would be a bestseller.
I would get one for sure.

honda disappoints since some time already, there are other makers on the market. If I wanted rally bike I'd add bigger tank to my lighter ktm 500 exc with way better stock suspension, power, wheels, tyres out of the door with much lower price.

It depends how you want to travel. If open space off-road speed is on the first place I would stick with XR650R (because I own one).



But
if I want to cruise along with my wife on a 3month trip I would rather choose sth with less hp, more economic and with longer service intervals.


Small capacity duals on a long trips have many to offer:
-you can ride them standing all day with less fatigue (open/close throttle factor on big thumpers)
-it is much easier to find traction on slippery bits
-the overal economy is much better (fuel, tires, chain and sprocets, brake pads- you can ride longer distance without changing them what can be helpfull on longer trips).
-if your cruising speed is lower you can see more (if that's what you are looking for).

Honda have the new CRF450L and the 450 Rally concept bike on show at the Nec. I saw them both yesterday and have to say they will both make great travel bikes. The 450L is overpriced at just under £10k but still a serious bike.
Regarding the 600mile oil change, i imagine that will apply if riding hard off-road doing enduros etc. A travel bike won't get the same abuse so extending the oil changes to 2,000 miles shouldn't be an issue.

the CRF450L has an oil change interval of 600 miles and a valve check interval of 1,800 miles.

The 250L and 450L are quite different. I've sat on a 250 and would hate to ride it off road, the suspension is a joke! I cant imagine putting luggage on it...and the weight of a rider.
It's a rosd bike pretending to bea trail bike.
The 450 is derived from a competition bike but with a softened engine and an extra gear.

Personally I wouldn't rely much on a guy or company opinion who was given a bike to test it...

So you don't read magazine articles, watch youtube reviews...
Come on dude! I know you like to be contentious but really... Obviously there's no substitute for riding it yourself, but doing that sort of mileage shows more dedication than most reviewers (and a total disregard for the possibility of some truely debilitating monkeybutt!)

I know Dave's delivery is not always scintillating (too many pauses for a sip of the coffee), but he approaches this from the same angle as me - I want a bike I can ride comfortably at reasonable speed to the area I want to play in, have fun and ride back. Does this bike meet those criteria? He says it does more or less. Much more informative than some wannabe Baja hero with loads of flashy footage of rooster tails and revving engines and no helpful content.

believe what you want, I watch owner reviews not sponsored ones.
BTW I didn't see a single clip Dave actually riding this bike.
