tt600 or dr350?

hallo!

Just wondering of wich bike will be better for me... Dont know where I will go next, but i think of siberia or maybe something a little bit to the south (afghanistan, pakistan ect...) who knows, maybe again to west africa? But, Im connsidering wich bike will be better for such a longer trip like these above? Im thinking of these ones because of I seen TT600R of my friend in action while we have ben to mauritania and It works beautifull in all terrain (except motorways http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb/smile.gif on the other hand I realy like DR350 because it is light and compact and probably have better fuel economy? and of course I loved it after watching Mondo Enduro http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb/smile.gif For me the main factor is reliable, so which bike would you suggest?

thanks for replies.
take care!

Peter
If i had to choose i would take the tt,because of engine response.I am 190 cm tall i donĀ“t know about you.
All that factors are important.Fuel yes too.
Spareparts? wich brand is better prepared in the stores? This is the second factor for me.
Biger tanks? luggage? soft or hard?
I supose you will take tent? and camp equipment too?
So tell us a bit more.
Y drive a XR 650 L.Its near the TT choice.
Bye

so, Im 186cm and about 70kgs...
I preffer soft luggage, just because its handy, cheap and you can repair it using simple tools.
Of course I would like to fit a bigger tank, maybe something like acerbis or I will build one by my self (i have welder and all the things needed for plying with that stuff)

Probably the trip will be a solo or with one more motorbike.
And of course I better like slepping under the stars than in a hotel, so I will carry all the camping gear but anyway I want to go as light as possible.

I know that probably tt600 is a better bike just because of more powerfull engine, but it is more expensive than dr350... When I buy one I can get DR for almost half the price of TTR...thats why im thinking about it, just dont have to much money http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb/smile.gif

And one more thing. I used to have Tenere 34L and It was beautifull bike, but now I want to go for something younger (96-99model year) and LIGHTER http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb/smile.gif

P.S.Maybe somebody knows what are the oil change intervals in dr350?

Hi Peter,
I think they're both good choices.
If the DR350 costs only half as much (in a comparable technical condition), and you can find or make a bigger tank, ... then take the DR350

Peter
I think you had your choice allready but needed to confirm..... so take the DR and hit the road!
Good luck

... and if you do go for the DR make sure to check for this problem before leaving: http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb...ML/000062.html

thanks a lot guys for your help!
maybe you beddhist know how often do I have to change the engine oil in my future DR?

take care!
Peter

From the manual the specified interval on our DR650SEs is 12000km. However, modern engine oils are a lot better now so you can easily double that without risking anything. Changing the filter every second oil change should also be OK.

Do change the brake fluid every 2 years to avoid corrosion in the cylinders.

You should be able to find a service manual for the DR350 in a DR350 forum somewhere.
