For a long trip, I would choose ABS.

Once had a real tough situation in India, when a huge pig decided to narrowly avoid getting hit by a truck that we were just passing, and the next split-second, threw in a very good effort at getting hit by our bike!

It all happens so quickly its unbelievable, you wont even have time to get scared. I thought I could brake, but in fact I would´ve instantly locked the front (not sure, if we´d actually gone down because of that, but locking the front surely would not have helped, nevermind if we´d needed to make some evasive maneuvers, for example!!)

ABS wont prevent you getting in an accident, good riding skill&braking skill are still the most important things, but on situations like that, it can give you a bit more chance to survive. On a long trip, you cant stay 100% alert every second, so you may not get the best out of your braking, when it is needed.

My K7 has now done 55000 kms, and the ABS hasnt malfunctioned, not once.
