Hi,
After a long time thinking of what bike to get, going from a KLE...Tenere..etc

It's now come down to a TRANSALP :thumbup1:

The only thing is money and 'the other half' wanting a hoilday ..:censored:..

Seen a few around and just asking if anyone can tell me if a 2005 with 14,000 miles, Metallic Black , Full Service History , and looks MINT

is a good price at £3,795....?
The body looks great, its just the miles that its done is it good or bad :helpsmilie:

please help before the summer comes and GOES and the wife takes more money from me:thumbdown:

I have exactly the same bike Mitch; I mean exactly the same ..

.. same year, same colour, exactly the same mileage too. Spooky!

Can't help you with the price question though, but it sounds just a few quid too expensive to me.

Suggest you go to this site to pose your question: Transalp. The boys over there will definitely give you an honest, expert price valuation/appraisal .. I'm sure.

PS .. IMHO, pricewise, a lot depends on the accessories/extras that come with the Alp. E.g. luggage, crashbars, mainstand fitted? etceteras. You haven't mentioned this aspect.

The cost of these items all add up.

My learned colleague is totally correct. A no-extra transalp if this age should be £2-400 less than asking price even though second hand bikes have actually appreciated in real terms against cars this last year weirdly!

Extra bit prices bump up asking prices like this
centre stand cost new - £80 (+ fitting cost if done by dealer) adds £50 to value
heated grips new £50 adds £50 (+ above)
handle bar and pad £100+ adds £100
aftermarket can £300 adds £150 + - especially if you can have the original too
recent suspension, chain, sprockets adds £2-250 if with receipts.

Ultimately the bike is a Honda hence bulletproof just check the state of nuts and alloys bits for furryness that will indicate how well it really has been kept.

I realise I've missed the boat on this particular issue, but I wonder if the Parkers used motorcycle price guide may be useful for your ongoing Transalp hunting?

Using your example above, the youngest 2005 Transalp (55 reg) would have a book price between £2,000 and £3,000 max, not including special goodies and gadgets.

Hi there and welcome to the want to be TA riders!

Concerning the mileage - NO need to worry! TAs are made to last - as can be seen with many older models! Mine is a 1992, 400ccm for the Japanese market, similar to the PD06. Right now it shows roughly 55.000 kilometers on the clock and is still going strong. Everything is still original (except for the H&B paniers). If you look around in other forums - people are riding TAs with 200.000 + kilometers and of course the first engine. So, considering the price ..... well, you gotto know what you are up to!

my opinion ... would suggest you consider a pre 2000 'made in japan' 600cc model, rather than the post 2000 'made in spain' 650. Build quality is very good on the japanese made models, and engines are the most reliable out there.

i would say £2750 to £3000 tops for that bike. you can get LOADS of 07/08 model transalps for that price, just go look on biketrader or mcn. personally no way would i pay that much:thumbup1:
