Touring Bike for 2

Hi. I am new to touring and looking to select bike that is good for 2.

I have an option to get a FJ1200 (Early 1990's with ABS) it’s in good nick.

Is this good selection for starting out touring? Good for 2?

Any other bikes you would recommend?

Budget is a consideration.

Thanks

Matthew

What type of roads

I ride a Triumph trophy which shares a lot of features with the fj. If your touring will be mostly on pavement and the rest on hard pack then I think you will have a great time on the fj.

If you want to get off in the soft sand and gravel then I might look for something a bit more dual sport.

Just my thoughts.

Fj 1200

Hi
I rode a freinds FJ back in the mid 90s, i found it a very comfortable bike to ride on a long trip, great on long streches of motorway. A nice bike all round.
Hope this helps Skip

I have had an FJ and a GTR1000 and would choose the Kawasaki every time.

They will be similar money but the GTR is comfier, much more so for 2, has better weather protection, shaft drive, good quality luggage, lockable cubby holes and is all round a much more relaxing long distance bike.

For fun (on my own) I'd take the Yamaha but for touring the Kawasaki.

Go the FJ1200

A friend had one that had done around 300000km and was still running strong. Very reliable smooth bike, if it's in good nick grab it!
