What to Ride? You've decided - you're going to do it, you're really going…somewhere! You know where you're going, or at least I hope you do, so you just need to decide what you're going to ride.

Question Buying In USA as a Uk national

Hi !

My girlfriend and I are about to leave for our trip across the States, through Mexico, Central and South america.
We were originally planning to buy a harley in americxa, and ride that to Ushuaia. I have a Harley Road King now, but can't decide the best thing to do, not really knowing how to go about buying in the states....there are all sorts of taxes etc, plus, I dont know which would be more hassle free, buying a US bike or shipping my UK one.....any tips ?

I think you'll find a post or two on that topic inside the country forum ..

But basically you can buy a bike in another country .. then sell it before you leave .. provided you are selling it in the same country .. selling it in an other country means you are importing it - so duties and compliance with local regulations become a problem.

So why do people ship their bikes? - because they are not returning to the starting place (unless you count home) .. so would have to sell and buy at each and every boarder .. there is also the set up time and experience with their own bike ..
