Ideal travel bike. Stong built for endurance and with a very low fuel consumption.
I would be interested if it came on the market here in the Netherlands

I wouldn't, I know they are talking US gallons but this is little or no better than an F800GS, if it can regularly achieve 100 miles per imperial gallon, 35 km per litre, then it will be a good bike.

Exactly what I thought when I read this article. And diesel fuel in the UK costs more than petrol, so it needs to do even better just to deal with that issue. After that, someone needs to act as the beta tester, go get one from the manufacturer and see how it performs in real world conditions.

I'm sure this was discussed on here a year or so back.

I think the conclusion was something like..

Not easilly available

Bloody expensive

Bloody Heavy

Bloody Slow

MPG no better that a "Normal" bike

I like it. I like diversity and choice. Petrol is running out, it's about time we started seeing a few alternatives coming through such as feasible electronic commuters you can use every day in the real world. BMW were talking about converting the R1200 boxer platform to run on diverse fuels such as bio diesel. It's the future.

I doubt that... "they" say, if 1% of diesels in the world ran on biodiesel there would be nowhere to grow food!

It seems to be another that does not have outstanding fuel consumption - enough to justify the additional capital cost of purchase.
Their quoted fuel consumption of 28 Km per litre equates to about 80 miles per UK gallon.
The BMW singles are doing 70+ miles per gallon & lots of EFI twins are claiming 60+ MPG . Come to think of it, that is much like the car market.
