single wheel moto trailers?
 

if we do go we'd probably take 2 mtn bicycles with us. i had mine strapped on top of my KLR on my year long solo lap around central/south america in '03-'04, and used it nearly daily for exercise/play time. i've been checking out various inline trailers like; eaglematetrailers.c, monogo.c, thirdwheeltrailersinc.c, and uni-go. some have very low ground clearance. since they hitch directly to either axle, or a bracket behind seat they lean with the bike, and they're narrower than 2 whell trailers. anybody have any thoughts about pulling one? could you pull one behind a small bike like a KLR or AT? tom in dallas

Trailers and Safety
 

I've heard a number of bad stories concerning trailers as the cause of accidents. A couple of years ago on a stretch of the Alaska Highway that was under re-construction friends and I came across a rider whose trailer had fishtailed on the gravel surface, flipped and pulled the bike down.

I don't know if there is any hard data beyond this kind of anecdotal information but it may be well be worthwhile doing some research. Perhaps our HU friends could weigh in with some experience.

at speeds of up to and even over 100 mph, fully loaded, using an XV1600 Wildstar, the trailer was not even noticeable! ( Dont flame me, I KNOW ITS ILLEGAL) :offtopic: the point I am making is....... the trailer hitch pivots and rotates so that stupid lean angles are possible, the trailer should not have caused the accident. there is no way the trailer, if loaded correctly caused the accident. UNLESS the trailer bounced from a pothole or was not loaded right.

Try doing a search for Watsonian-Squire. They're a well-established British company known for their sidecars (and importing Enfileds from India). They also do trailers but they're two-wheeled and meant for larger touring bikes. I doubt they'd be suitable for off-road. Prices start at £1000.

Bingo! I like that. Near Darwin I met a guy who had constructed a single wheel trailer using a 44 gallon drum. The way it was hitched to his V-Strom was exactly like the Trailtail. Lovely! He had done thousands of miles on outback pistes with no problems at all.
