Royal Enfield in Europe?
Hi.
I am interrested in importing a Bullet 500 from India to Luxembourg and registering it there. But I´m worried that it might not be street legal in that country. I am mainly concerned about the right-foot gearshift and European emissions regulations. I dont speak french so I cant just look it up on the web. If anyone can help me, it would be very much appreciated. Thanks. |
Can't help much but I don't see a problem. It's legal to import Enfields directly in to Germany & the UK.
Not sure about emissions but the r/h gear change will present no problem. |
Seeing you are new here: use the search function. This topic has been discussed extensively here.
I take it you just want to register it there, not ride from India overland? The way I have read this is that the bikes sold in EU are of better quality than Indian market bikes, so it probably isn't worth it. You can buy them in Europe in the shop, even with 850cc Diesel engine. ------------------ Salut from Southern France, the bikers' paradise, Peter. |
The newest EU imported Bullets have modified 'lean burn' cylinder heads to meet current EU legislation. They should not be a problem if your country is using EU rules.
Importing yourself seems to be more hassle than it is worth, for a poorer spec bike. |
This is a website of a company that sells Enfields in Luxembourg and Belgium.
http://www.locotrans.net/ Just try to send them an email in English. |
thanks everyone.

No need. You can buy them in Germany, Belgium and France. The lean burn engines come witha five speed gearbox that usually leaves the shop with a Left Hand gearchange. ( They are very easy to convert to RH shift if you desire).
