If you want to start from Bangkok, check this website out www.siamsuperbike.com
Peter Reid the owner will get you sorted and on your way. You'll need an address in Thailand if you want to buy a bike with papers ( which I would recommend). Good luck!

see southern asia forum for riding details in this area, among others, this post :
http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb...ML/000299.html

i would say that the best place to rent/buy a motorbike in this area and travel around is cambodia (related to the bikes choice and price) :
have a look at :

(he s a friend)

happy trails

maybe you can ask poa :

poa,

you ve always received answers to your questions posted a bit everywhere on the forums (which sometimes can bring confusion), even if the answers given don t bring you THE solution.
since you re living in thailand and maybe have thailand nationality, you could have a good idea of the "thailand market" : maybe you can take time also to answer other people's questions having like you difficulties to find solutions to their problems, for example about buying a bike in thailand/carnet in thailand etc ... in this forum (which bike ?) and in the southern asia forum.
thanx in advance :-)

happy trails,

nb : pls don t take it too personnally, i don t want to be rude or agressive with anyone ... that was just an idea :-)
thanx for your understanding

Hi Vincent i conected with owner of phnompenbikes ,and i found that there is no much difference between prices of m/bikes in Thialand and in Cambodia . You can get honda baja 250 in a good condition for 2000-2500$ (from shop)in both of those countries . Anyway the prices from private sellers are much more cheaper.

vincent danna 18 Jun 2005 18:33

thanx, i guess the paperwork "facilities" will make the difference then : possibility to register it under your name, ownership card, possibilities of CPD (eventually), crossing borders (export it temporarily or definitely), selling it somewhere also etc ...

depending on the condition of the bike, i remember to have seen / found some xr250, dr250, dr350 around 1 000 usd, even less, in PP. the cambodian market is specific because of the "grey" or stolen market from japan.

good luck
