Not Just the Bike

Hi

I suppose this is a question to all the veteran/experienced travellers. Based on your misshaps out there which manufacturer gives the best parts back up.

I am asking as I am in Montenegro and had a small spill on my bike. Parts to get it back on the road have so far taken 3 weeks which has taken me by surprise a bit as I suppose I think of Montenegro as still in Europe.

Next year or early 2009 I plan to travel further afield and my thought are which bike has the best supplier reputation for supplying spares. I apprectiate the trick is not to have an accident but with the best will in the world these things happen.

I have noticed that in my travels around Romania, Bulgaria, Macedonia and Albania there are BMW dealers. Yes they are selling cars but still a point of contact. Is this the reason most of the bikes I have seen down here are 1150 and 1200gs.

I forgot to mention the bike I have is a Triumph Sprint ST.

Many thanks
Kev

I think rather than depend on the manufacturer, it would be better to have set up an account with someone who makes their living supplying parts. For bmw such as Motobins, for Enfield Hitchcocks. etc. For this reason Older ( Meriden) Triumphs are worthwhile as parts are more abundant now than when they were made. Better parts too :)

Good luck getting your ST back running.
