...their new Multistrada looks like a contender for an adventure bike in future years. I can see possibilities for this bike if it proves tough enough, larger tank, knock off some of the corners etc.

The electrikery is really complex but this is the way on all modern bikes now but if they are reliable I think this bike is potentially ace. Let's see how long until there's a Ducati category here.

Except - price! At £15k they are dreaming - £15k for any bike? Madness :nono:

You'd need to be mad to take a bike that expensive overlanding, especially with the Carnet from my last trip costing 500% of the bike's value.

£75k? Probably not.

Well there's one for tractors already (BMW's) :)

There are different levels of complexity these days, too. The new Multistrada, especially the traction control-version, seems to be there on the top ladder as far as complexity goes.

It certainly looks much better than the older 1000/1100 version, and if you´d put some offroad wheels/tyres on it, man it would look great. I bet that powerful superbike engine is very nice, too. Even the older Multistrada handled great, this one´s likely to be even better.

Still a tad too complicated, and quite a bit too expensive for me.

while the ducati answer to the GS does indeed look good has anyone came across the Terra Mostro?
basically a monster with XR650 wheels and suspension.
it still costs a lot but it does look the business.

I can see what they are trying to do but it's not quite my definition of an adv bike but then again ANY bike is an ADV bike; it's where you go and what you do that defines the bike, a state of mind if you like.

If DUCATI are really serious about this market they ought to cooperate with the serious off road people, maybe Dakar/Raid racers, adapt the bike, add some redundancy in the 'lecky department and don't make the biggest mistake in the history of bike marketing KTM did - if Ewan and his mate asks to use your bikes bite their hand off, don't send them away to BMW!

IMHO KTM's now defunct 950 Enduro R is the definitive RTW bike and will my choice of weapon when I get my money together.

I met an ADV Rider in New York, Dr. Rocks. He hosted me and meanwhile I recovered from my american trip showed me some pics of his Terra Mostro. I thought it was a mad joke using the photoshop during a drunk night. But that nightmare was real. The bike is fantastic and I would love to have one. But first I have to find someone who wants to buy a very used spanish kidney (too much wine).

But I want them to fix the frame on a SR4S engine!! How will it look with my BMW suitcases??
