KTM Adventure 950 or 990
 

Hello to all- I am a newbie here and have not ridden in a number of years. Currently I am in Ecuador backpacking and think my trip would be much more enjoyable on 2 wheels.

Have been shopping here and in Colombia (dont ask how expensive bikes are).... and have narrowed down what I think I want to either the BMW F850GS or a KTM Adventure-either the earlier non injected 950 or the later injected 990. I have done a search here and have not found anything that defining about the KTM. I know that the F850GS is somewhat of a different bike and more expensive to buy and maintain. What I was hoping was opinions from someone who had been out one up and loaded with panniers and camping gear on one of the KTM Adventures. Any help, suggestions or pointers would be appreciated. I personally am leaning toward the Adventure because it seems to have a lower center of gravity and seems a bit lighter than the BMW.

Consider flying to the US, buy and register a bike and ride back! I found a 950 Adv S late last year, absolutely loaded with accessories, Woody's wheels, Remus mufflers, Scott's steering dampener, ect, ect, ect and with very low mileage for 7.5 K :mchappy:
