Jawa 650 Dakar

So, what do we think of Jawa's claim to the Dakar name?

Rotax powered single. Like older BMW F650 and Aprilia Pegaso.

I don't mind... it has the weight of one! It's just another marketing gimmick. Besides the F650 GS Dakar, BMW once had the R100 Dakar and Suzuki the DR600 Dakar. Why not Jawa? Besides, we'll see how much longer BMW's Dakar stays in the line-up since the new G650X is out. Although available in Europe and Australia, they've already dropped it from the US line-up.

didn't want to start new thread. thought my search only came up with old jawa info.. think BMW leaving niche open? saw Jawa as KLR comp., but looks like priced out.

Aloha,
You're a long way from home to be looking at EUR pricing!
I think BMW have dropped the Dakar title, for the present anyway. Their new F650GS does not have that name in the bike designation; maybe they knew something ahead of time, with the cancellation of the (Paris)-Dakar race? .

Looking at the photo the engine looks very familiar, like the old Rotax based F650 Funduro engine!
