I am exactly your size and have ridden many dirt bikes and prefer the Ducati Elefant for long distance trips. I bought the GS ADV. because it was there! Actually the longer suspension, skidplate and tank were the big draws. The wheels, hydralic lines, windshield, larger rear rack, heated grips and handguards, electrical hookups all added to the appeal. And far exceed the value over the standard GS. One needs to be fairly tall or very skilled to handle the height and the unbelieveable weight. Once under way it is a joy. My wife and I actually like the seat and 95% of the time I ride 2-up with luggage(Jesse!).
I loved the Twin Duros and got 3500 miles before early replacement( could have gotten at least 1000 more). Tourances replaced them to try on the street.
Hope this helps.
Allen.
