Honda NTV650 - Height limit????
 

I'm thinking about getting a Honda NTV650 but I am 6ft 3" with a 34" inside leg, will I be too big for this bike?:confused1:

If so it would be a shame due to the reliability they offer & the shaft drive which I prefer.:helpsmilie:

I used to courier an NTV 650 so I spent long hours in the saddle. I have just measured my inside leg (with the dog's lead and a tape measure: only the best technique for me!!), and I think I'm about 34" inside leg, but then I'm 5'10", so maybe I've measured it wrong.......

Either way, I was comfy on the bike, with knees slightly bent and feet flat on the ground at the lights. Basically you may be a little tall on the bike... but trying one is the best way to find out. However, the NTV has not been manufacturered for quite a few years now meaning that however realiable the bike is, you'd still be restricted to old-ish bikes, plus they are often couriered.

Have you considered the replacement: the Deauville, if you like the NTV powerplant? Its faired, but the intergral panniers are pants, so if you are planning to tour, a decent top-box and a couple of roll-bags is your best way forward.

I have an NTV, the bike is great. Very reliable and indestructible even if it's old. Mine was built in 1990 and has got over 60K on the clock. I never had any problems.

Unfortunately the sitting position is not very good for tall people. But you could buy vario footpegs or upholster your seat.

Cheers guys, like you say the best way is to try one. But there aren't too many about so it's difficult finding one to try let alone buy! Not keen on the Deauville, plus the NTV is more in my price range.

Franconian - vario footpegs, where would I find these and what exactly are they?

I am about the same size (1,87m) and I still have my NTV650 in the garage. You are not too big on that bike. It´s a splendid bike for shorter trips. I have Givi panniers and a topbox on it. When more carrying capacity was needed I bought a Africa Twin. Equipped with Därr aluminium panniers it´s a great adventure bike. As my wife wanted to join me on my trips I bought last week a R1100GS as the AT is not designed to ride two up. The space in my garage is almost used as my younger son did bring his Kawa 750 there too!:thumbup1:

I know what most people think about a deauville but they are a great bike even though yes the panniers are pants, and you cant take them off. I used one for over a year and a half, never had any faults (ok the rear silencer went but it was 9 years old), my brother then used it for half a year and now my uncle has it up in glasgow using it for his daily commute.

Try one you may be suprised and if you think its dull put it this way i kept an aprillia falcon behind me until the road opened up to a half mile straight, he then blasted past me, but i kept up with him in the corners until a set of traffic lights in the next town, pulled up along side him and he just looked at me thinking how did that guy keep up on that!!!! + that was with top box, high screen, extra hand and feet deflectors.

and forgot to add i'm 6ft4 with out shoes, and a long in side leg and its was ok for me, all be it a bit cramped after about 1hr nonstop but who wanted to ride non stop for that long???
