Honda C-90 or similar in South America

Hi all,

We're 3 people going soon on a trip which will start in south america. since budget is very tight and should hopefully keep us going a long time, the honda cub (c-90) should be a good cheap solution for transportation.

I have tried gathering info on the net but it's a bit difficult due to language barriers and such stuff, so it would be a great help if anyone here can help with a few points:

We land in sao paulo, are this bikes common there? Is it possible to find a decent one for up to $500 (preferebly less)? Is there somewhere else where it would be better to buy them?

As far as I could see Honda cubs are no longer sold as new in SA, instead they sell the Honda wave which should be of the same family. Can it be expected the same reliability? for how low can we find a decent used one?

Any help appreciated

This website may well be able to answer some, if not all of your questions, Honda Trail CT's - Message Board - Yuku

Although I am sure the C90 would be capable of doing the trip,I personally would use a 125 bearing in mind what weight and distances you wish to cover. There are people currently doing big overland trips on the Ozzie 'postie'bikes.
