Dakar Rally Bike Questions
 

As i'm preparing (as an amateur entry) for the Dakar race, i'm looking for a few things which I hope some of you might be able to point me in the right direction:
- Who is experienced in putting a Dakar race bike together (with every change and modification that is required)?
- Who or which company provides tech support during the race. I think Dessertrose is no longer offering that. Are their companies out there where you can by yourself into the support package?
- Who would be a good training partner (someone who has done the Dakar before) for advise?
- Is there a special site which lists older Dakar race bikes for sale?

As an amateur you are allowed to drive this one: KTM 690 Rallye Factory Replica -
It's ready to race with some spares.

If KTM can manage to finish their new 450 it might be an option, but it might be smart to wait to the 2012-rally.
I guess it will be possible to buy support from KTM during the race when the 450 is finished.

Contact Charlie Rauseo in San Francisco. Charlie's Team Rallypanam has been running independent Dakar teams for 6 or 7 years. They often have bikes for sale and may offer support and training. For training I would go live in Nevada for a year. Races every week end, nearly year round.
