Cheap 2 Up options?

Hi!

Just wanting some advice on what bikes would be reasonably comfortable for a pillion passenger that can be bought second hand for around $2000. I don't expect the level of comfort that bigger bikes give, but just want to know which bikes a pillion passenger could ride on comfortably for 2-3 hours without hating the experience...

I'm definitely considering older japanese bikes and was wondering if there are many differences between the big brands in terms of peg height/seat size and comfort.

Any advice would be great!

Cheers

Well, in my/our case .....
I own a 1991 Honda TransAlp, Japanese model.
It took the two of us to quite some locations over here in Japan.
Is it the best bike? Probably not.
Is it adequate - YES!
Put a nice sheep skin on the seat, makes it much more comfortable - especailly for wife.

If you want to see pics, go to my website.

Yeh that would be perfect, but I haven't seen any around in our price range... perhaps we need to expand the budget a little, just not sure if it's gonna be possible seeing as we're just out of uni and have only been saving for the last few months.

CBR1100xx Blackbird, Yamaha Fazer 1000 and Yamaha XJ900 Diversion have all worked well for me; but ask your pillion because he/she knows best when it comes to this question.
None of these bikes are oriented to offroad of course; that is not going to work when you have your pillion to consider - on the other hand, if you want to end the relationship doh

If the XJ900 was sold in Oz then it should be within your budget - getting on a bit now, but a really bullet proof engine.
