Buying a second hand bike in Vancouver

Hello everyone,

I'm new to this forum and I hope that you guys can help me.

I'll be arriving in Vancouver in about 2 weeks and from there I'm planning to do a trip on a motorcycle to Argentina. I'd like to purchase a second hand bike in Vancouver.

I looked on Craigslist, found some interesting offers, but I'm pretty sure that Vancouver has more to offer than just what's on Craigslist. I looked on Ebay but I weirdly didn't see any location search functionalities.

What are other good websites to look for bikes over there? Or can anyone recommend a good store in Vancouver? Any other strategies in finding a bike would also be appreciated :)

Thanks in advance! :scooter:

Think about crossing the border and buying in Washington State. Easier, cheaper, etc.

Hope that's helpful.

Hi Mark,

I am hoping to do the same, can you share why Washington might be a lot easier? Do you know if this is possible as a tourist?

Thank you.

Just saw this post. It sounds like by now you've decided against or done whatever you did. Basically, yes it's possible as a non-resident...or I wouldn't have suggested it. You, or anyone reading this post, should Google the department of licensing, motor vehicles, or whatever it's called in any state or province to find out the rules for non-residents. Don't neglect to account for registration, insurance, and any necessary inspections. In the US, requirements vary greatly.

There is also a long-running thread about this which can be easily found with a site search.

Hope that's helpful.

Just found your post, after a couple days in Vancouver on business.

Been browsing Facebook market place for bikes myself (for the first time since I was 16 I only have 1 motorcycle at home. I'm 55) , that is where you'd be most successful.

Cross border travel is easy nowadays finding the proper information from the proper sites. But again browsing Facebook, prices are little better in Washington state than BC on the higher end bikes!

Happy travels
