Bike Selection

I'm planning a round the world trip beginning Mar/May 2003.
I indend travelling across africa. I am only 5'7" ar 67 inches tall.
I know I need a good off road bike but which one.. A 11 000 GS is probabbly too big and the 650GS I've heard vibrates too much.
Any suggestions ?

I've moved your post to the "Which Bike" forum - there are already plenty of discussions on this topic in this forum, as that's what it's for!

An 1100GS is DEFINITELY WAY too big!

I'm over 6 feet and wouldn't ride an 1100GS solo through Africa. An F650GS or KLR650 or Transalp or XT or DR650 ...... would all be much better.

An 1100GS is too heavy and too hard to ride in comparison to a smaller lighter bike. The ONLY advantage of the 1100GS is that it can cruise at higher speeds - and the 650's will all cruise happily all day faster than anyone with a grain of sense will do anywhere in Africa.

Nothing wrong with an F650GS vibration-wise. It does of course vibrate more than an 11100GS - but then all singles do. It's NOT a problem.
