aprilia etv 100 caponord... yes?
 

Beautiful bike, saw one last week at our Wednesday night meet at Borough Market.... absolutely stunning, and very comfy.

I found my feet planted firmly on the floor, the balance was nice, it's got a 25 litre tank and everything else you could possibly need... everything on the www seems to be positive... solid lump, and reliable running...

What does everyone think? I'm seriously considering this as an option....

Never mind what others might think about it. If it makes your heart beat a little harder & faster, it's the bike for you. Go for it! It's Italian, but good Italian. I went for a Guzzi Quota myself after messing around with BMWs, Hondas, Triumphs etc. Never looked back - even if the Quota is somewhat of an oddball. Great bike to tinker with though. A pal of mine has the Caponord. That engine is a gem! Never misses a beat and is a strong runner.

I took a test ride on one a few years back and it was certainly a good ride; comfortable and well able to keep up with other Aprilias and Guzzis that were out on the same test run. I talked with a bunch of Aprilia sales guys who had taken the same bike around a track and they reckoned that it has good lean angles and showed the way to a few sports bikes (Even if this does not interest you as such, it does tend to confirm that the engine is "poky").

There were 2 CapoNords in Ushuaia last Christmas,if that tells you anything. Both ridden from the states if I remember correctly.

That would be an excellent deal, if you can get an Aprilia dealer to lend it to you for that trip; mine Capo ride was only about a 1/2 hour in the company of Aprilia sports bikes and Guzzi's - around back roads and accompanied so the bikes did not go missing!! :nono:

Well - now here's the thing... it's being discontinued... just been onto the dealers now - no one has any in, and only a specialist adventure dealer in Croydon can get one but it's one of the last...

Only black left all the red are gone.

Should get a good deal though!

I'm sure I've seen this tasty bike for sale new in MCN for eyewateringly good prices.

I suggest you look around the forums for spares availability information. A friend of mine has waited weeks for a replacement ECU. for a Caponard. (It is a lovely bike, with a good spec and price, I must agree.) Aprilia seem to be getting a bad press on spares, but I don't know how justified that is. I think it's worth asking around.

I wouldn't be surprised actually - it's been hard enough to find a dealer with a bike still in the UK - states seem to be pretty well stocked though.

Quality? Reliability? Ease of Maintenance?

I might get grief for this but I started looking at these pages because I am looking into buying an XT660R for a big trip, because I'm worried about the spares back up for my 2006 Aprilia Pegaso (same engine as the XT), should I venture too far away.

My Peg has been great, I think it's a far better bike than the Yam. I'm worried about their spares back up though, even though nothing has gonce wrong in 9000 miles. It's the most reliable bike I've owned in 25 years of riding Jap bikes!

Aprilia build great bikes in every way, but the spares back up is awful.

I can say that confidentally as a parts manager in a franchised dealer...

Oh yeah, PS theres meant to be a 2008 Capo at the next Milan show....
