After Africa Twin

Hi ;

A friend of mine sold his Africa Twin and is looking for another bike to buy. His expectations are ;

*Light : The main reason why he sold AT was its weight. He is looking for a bike around 170-190 kg.

*Height : He is a short guy (160cm) so the bike shouldnt be too high.

*Two-up : he will be riding mostly with his wife so it should be capable of two-up.

So he knows everything but he doesnt know the name of the bike. I am suggesting KLR650A.

Any other opinion?

The Transalp falls into the weight range you describe. If your friend liked the A.T. then he'll like the 'Tranny' especially the new 650 which has a lower seat height. Plus they'd still have the Honda quality, reliabillity etc.

The 650GS is the perfect bike for the virtically challenged (the standard version not the 'Dakar' and will take and a small amount of luggage. Downside is it's difficult to extend tank range.

The Pegaso seems well made, has a low seat height. Not sure about parts availability though.

Personally I'd go for the 'Tranny' for two up as it's alot smoother.

The KLR would be way too tall for him. It's top heavy, also. I love mine, but it's right at the edge of being too tall for me, and I'm 5'9".
