Hey Simmo,
Hey Twit,

Simmo, I've heard the same with Indo, but with a bit extra cash you might be allowed in??? Did you say your friend rode through Berma? If this is a choice we'll definetly give it a go. I'd much raster ride and ship as little as possible, especially if it's difficult from India.

Twit, is it easy enough to get into Bangladesh? Our itinery isn't rock solid, it's just a rough guide for the moment but we'll be taking about a year to 18 months as well. Are you going to do Vietnam and Indo? If so what bike are you riding? Do you know anything about not being allowed into countries with a bike larger than 250cc??
Keep us upto date with your trip, would love to hear how it's going.

Dan

Getting into Bangladesh doesn't seem to be that much of an issue as long as the weather is on your side i.e the place isn't flooded!!! The time we are planning to be there or there abouts we may well go via Nepal but it is all up for change depending on what we feel like!

Bike is a KTM 950 Adventure, be interesting to see how it goes on a really long trip!

And... We are going to run through Thailand and Malaysia as well as Cambodia. If we can smuggle the bike into Vietnam we will, otehrwise we'll just abandon the bike for a few weeks and go in on foot!!!

Pretty much the same, just play it by ear at that stage.

OK Twit and Dan

In 2004 Simon and Susan Harby road across Burma. They applied for their permit in Delhi and recieved it 3 months later, touring India in the meantime. They were on an Africa Twin and Transalp. They were not allowed to ride from Taunggyi to Kengtung so the bikes went on a truck Then rode to Thai border at Tachilek.

I dont have their email but I know Rich Parkinson does, they met in Indo. You can get Rich's from their Horizons Blogg.

I get the impression Knobbie tyres would have been nice.

If you can get Australian Mags in the UK, they wrote a peice in Trail Bike Adventyre Magazine, the one with Chris Scotts Sahara story (winter 2005 issue4)

cheers

alec
