1995 triumph trophy 900
 

i'm travelling to spain and france in the summer (see trip planning under my name) does anyone have experience of the 1995 (square headlight) 900 trophy? i've seen one for sale - seems like a good price.

I owned a 96 Speed Triple
in the "early" Hinckley years there were only two engines
The 885cc is what you are looking at
I found the motor to be great and I enjoyed the exhaust note
I did not have any problems with my bike in the years that I owned it
It was not a very light bike tho' and the Sprint will weigh a bit more
I ahve to say I think they are great bikes with some character to boot

I have had a 94 Trophy for the last few years.I find for touring it is a perfectly good bike.It is comfortable and has a good fuel range.The fuel consumption is O.K. if you don't go mad with the throttle.As has been said they are a heavy bike,the weight is carried quite high up,but this is only noticable at very low speed.
Maintainance is fairly straight forward.The middle spark plug is a bit difficult to get at,but how often do you need to change them?Everything seems to be held together with a great number of different fixings,socket heads,torx,nuts and bolts etc.
Things to look for.Check that the alternator does not make a rattling noise,particularly at tickover,as the bolt that holds the drive together can come loose.This is not usually serious,but it sounds bad.It can be difficult to hear above the generally diesel type sound of the triple motor.Also check and that the starter motor works properly.The sprag cluch can wear and I believe replacement is not a pleasent job.Saying that I have had no trouble at all with mine.
Over all I like my Trophy and every time I think about changing it I always end up keeping it.If you have any questions,fire away and I will see if I can help
