Hello Brad
I am driving myself an TT through the dessert for a while. So this could get a long story. I just tell you first the changes I made. I mounted a stiffer suspension in the back from WP. They put it for me on 50kg extra load. I have an luggage carrier with aluboxes. Acerbis Afrika tank (33Liter) and an Tenere budyseat. I mounted the flywheel and generator and headlight from an XT (12 volts). I made the secundary transmission a bit longer.
To be honnest there are more easy bikes to travel with but the TT is very light and has a full cross suspension (which you have to change in the back when you carry lugage).
Be careful with putting to much lugage on the back. You realy have to give the back some extra support (with a lugage carrier or extra tubes). If I'm correct you have the model with the drumbrakes. I can tell you that even the diskbrake they put on it is just meant to slow you down on an crosstrack.
