Newbie Alert!

Hey,

I'm a complete beginner to all this bike stuff, though I am a seasoned traveller, but just wanted to introduce myself before I start asking all those newbie questions!

Thinking of overland to and across Russia on a small budget through bits of Northern Europe (wish a ferry existed between the UK and Finland!), route tbc, or overland to Bulgaria on a 125 yet to be bought. I speak Russian so language shouldn't be a problem, but the logistics if travelling with a bike are all new to me...can see customs issues, missing papers, etc all cropping up - I'm not at all organised or great at planning yet!

I'll post in the relevant forums for travel buddies etc - at the mo it's just me

Cheers,

Pixie.x

Hi Pixie,

Aaah... early stage planning! Gotta love it! (Late stage planning sucks IMHO! That's where it all gets boring and expensive!)

Keeps your options open and see how your trip develops. Both options sound cool.

Welcome.

Matt

You're in the right place! I get as excited about planning as I do about going (well, nearly anyway). It's the potential - anything could happen!

Welcome and ask away . . . . .

Hiya Pixie!!

Yeah...I'm with EnduroDude on this one...I LOVE the planning stages!!

I start to imagine all the new things I'm gonna get to see, to learn and do. WOW!! Oh...and the people you'll get to meet as well!!

I'm a total travel junkee!! There's nothing I'd rather do then travel.

The only part I dislike is coming home, well.....and paying for it all too!!

Anybody wanna sponser me on a world tour????

Welcome to an awesome forum Pixie!!!

Thanks!

Aww, thanks for the welcome :-) I feel right at home.

Yeah, its great fun planning, I get to pore over maps for hours on end and trace routes in different colour pens. Gotta love it!

I'll post later on again when I know more...

Solo Arctic ride

Maybe naive of me but , my planning only takes in the first three days. After that I plan on a daily basis. luckily I have no time restrictions, and even though I have 17 countries on my itinary, I like to let the journey unfold itself. I leave May 8th riding for breast cancer. See www.solobiketour4cancer.com Good luck pixie with your trip Jules

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
