It's only me!

I've been here a little while already before realising ... how rude of me ... that I've never introduced myself so; "hello" everyone!

Came late to motorcycling (although it's in the genes) and have the ambition to ride "every county of England, every country of Europe and every continent of the Earth" in the next few years. Got the Pyrenees and Alps out of the way in my first summer of riding last year and planning Germany-Poland-Ukraine-Romania-Hungary-Slovakia-Czech Rep. in the Spring followed by Denmark-Sweden-Norway-Finland-Estonia-Latvia-Lithuania-Russia in the Summer of 2009.

Lived in Paris for many years but now back in London (although feeling like a foreigner in my own country - even picked up a strange accent whilst I was away). Self-employed (ANIMATED ENTERPRISES), into rugby (Wasps & England), sidecar motocross and collecting tobacco cards. I suspect that I'll be a 'net' beneficiary of this site in the short-term but hope to become a 'net' contributor before long. Don't be fooled by the name; it's just a name! Had hoped to come to Ripley in June but have a client commitment in France that clashes so won't get there now. Looking forward to meeting with some of you out on the road and thanks for the advice so far.

Hi and welcome, don't worry about missing Ripley, there are plenty of other opportunities to get involved with other 'hubbers', how about the ACE cafe on Sunday 8th Feb?
Ride safe

Hi Paul

Hi Paul

Quite new to the site myself, but feel at home as I've always loved to travel and ride bikes, so these are truly my kind of people.

Enjoyed reading about your company via the website and spent over 15 years in corporate sales and marketing, but pleased to say that is all in the past now, as I dropped out of the pointless meetings and irritating jargon to start a bike shop from home a few years ago.

Realising now that it's more a life style then a business, as the financial side of things have taken a turn for the worse, but hell, it beats working!

I was born and grew up in Acton and moved to Staines, where my wife and I worked for DHL and Fedex and then on to Oxfordshire nearly ten years ago, as we found ourselves visiting the Cotswolds more and more thanks to the Good Beer Guide.

Will be at the ACE on Sunday 8th Feb and if ever your up this way feel free to drop in for a cuppa and a chat.

Cheers

Chris

Hi Dave. Plan to be at The Ace. I'll keep an eye out for you.

Hi Wildman
If I make it back from the Dragon rally in time it would be nice to meet, I will be on a R80gs Kalahari with adventureteam668 sticker on one of the panniers, and Lisboa/Dakar 06 sticker on flyscreen, and I'll be the one trying to thaw out!!

The "crunch" is sure affecting a lot of people. My work has been slashed 85% but then two of my biggest clients have both been in the headlines.

Looking forward to Sunday and you just may regret an open invitation for a cuppa in the Cotswolds!

Hi Paul

The cuppa is sincerely meant, unless I see a removal's lorry coming up the drive behind you!

Sorry to hear of the loss of two of your customer and hope your company got paid before they got their comeuppance!

See you at the ACE and I'll be on an 04 black Tiger, with luggage and the obligitory "For Sale" sign on the screen and also another sign on the 05 silver Pan European ST 1300 that my friend will be riding down. Well you know what they say: Once a pimp, always a pimp!

Cheers

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
