Hi from Sydney, Australia

Howdy all,

I'm a member of advrider, and kept seeing links from other members to threads on this 'horizonsunlimited' site. Damn good site this, with an incredible wealth of information, and so I registered.

I'm planning a 6 month ride around Europe next year, hoping to buy a bike in the UK and get insurance (ha! f*cking near impossible or so it seems!) and reading up on all the threads I can about all the info I can find.

Anyway, nice tae make yer aquaintance hopefully I'll meet some of you HU denizens out & about next year!

-Joe

Hi Joe

And welcome. Sounds like an awesome trip. I am planning 6 months in UK, Ireland & Europe in 2017 (when I can get long service leave). I am hoping to take my bike with me.

Cheers

What bike do you have? And what sort of travelling are you intending (off road, purely road)?

2017's a loooooong way away... but at least that means you have a looooong time to really plan your trip

Yes it is a long way away but the way time flies it will be here in no time. I wish I could do it sooner but that won't be possible unless I win lotto (heres hoping )

I currently have a Triumph Scrambler but by then am hoping to have a Tiger 800.

I will be doing road, my trip will be about immersing my self in other cultures. I want to spent a lot of time in Ireland and the UK, my Mum is English and my Grandmother was Irish. I became an Irish citizen this year. So the plan is to spend a lot of time discovering my routes and getting to know my relatives over there.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
