Hi from Bucks, UK - big south american trip for 9 mos starting soon!
 

Hi All
At the ripe old age of 58 my wife and I have given up our teaching and sales jobs and taken a year off to travel the world. We leave on 1st Oct 2016 and spend 3 months back packing in India, Thailand, NZ and Oz - then fly to Buenos Aires to pick up my BMW 1200 RS Adventure and spend 9 months riding through South and Central America from Ishuaia right up to Vancouver. First trip we have ever done beyond the 2 week normal touring holiday so both amazingly exciting a little daunting.
Appreciate any advice from anyone who's done this - and if anyone is in the same boat planning a big trip at the moment, we'd love to hear from you.

is a BMW 1200 RS Adventure a new model or is it a typo?

Either way have a great trip and one important thing is to allow each other your own space during the trip.
