Hello from Switzerland!

Hi!

I'am Markus, a 43 Years young swiss Biker. i living in the near from our Capital City Berne.

Its not my first Visit here, in the last months i read and read in this wonderfull Database. Now, i think its time for my first Posting...

Why?

- I buy a Super Ténéré (1994 Model, 47t km)
- My Appartment is cancelled on end of February 08
- The Job is cancelled on end of May 08
- in this Time i work in 2 Jobs - just for the Money ;-)
and... on the first of june 08 i start my big motorbike adventure!
I start to my RTW!
How long? I d'ont no. 2, maybe 3 Years? Whatever! I'am a Traveller ;-)

How i'am? a Traveller?
I think so...
I work the last 26 Years on international Transportcompagnys.
In the eighties and early nienties i drive many, many times to the middle east and northafrica. (24 Transports to the Iraq and many. many Tours to other Destinations in middle East, Afghanistan and Pakistan. In this Time i drive a mileage from 2.5 million Kilometers...

AND NOW!
and now i will make a big, big journey without any Good's deadlines.
On the roads in the middle East, in North africa and in Europe, i see so many interesting Points and Highlights... but i have a deadline and a financial Penalty in the neck... no stop, no visit. In my swiss Passport i have the stamps from 29 Country's... but never i was a Tourist ;-) Maybe is this the best side of international Hauling: You are never are a Tourist, you are a working stranger on the workersside of a Country.

ok... back to my next -to my great Tour:

I start on the first of June 08 from Switzerland... to:
Austria - Slowakia - Ukraine - Russia - Kazachstan - Russia (Altai) - Mongolia - Russia - Japan - Alaska - Canada - USA (California only ;-) and down to Ushuaia... and then? i think i look for a Passage from Chile to Kiwiland. But this is in a long long Time in Future :-)

So... this is my first Thread in the Hubb... :thumbup1:
i hope my swissalpsenglish is not to bad :confused1:

Markus, all the best for the trip. You have chosen a good bike for your trip. The engine is great. Make sure you read up on the owners website here.

there are some issues with the voltage regulators. Check that yours has been upgraded. Other than replacing worn out shocks I think they're pretty reliable. I had a '91 TDM which is an 850 version of your engine and I would have felt safe riding anywhere on it , even after 14 years of owning it.

Your Swissenglish is fine. Good luck.

Markus..

...welcome from a German living in Japan (since 16 years now).

...willkommen von einem Deutschen, der seit 16 Jahren in Japan lebt!

In case that you really want to hit Japan, too, send me a mail, I guess I can accomodate you and provide a place to sleep, a shower and something to eat and drink!

Klaus
