Hello from Ireland

Hello all. I've been a member here for a while, but having just posted on the Donnington meet thread, I realise that I've never posted before. Sorry about that.

I've been biking for over 20 years and introduced my husband to the joys of two wheels soon after we met. He subsequently became a complete fanatic and repaid the favour by introducing me to the joys of m/c touring. Since our first trip in 2001, we've covered tens of thousands of miles over several trips to the US, and did a charity ride from Moscow (Scotland) to Moscow (Russia) in 2011.

The next, and very probably my last, big trip is coming up next year - Inagh* to China! Though, in fact, we won't stop and turn around when we get to China. Naturally, we plan to ship our bikes from Hong Kong (probably) to the US West Coast and do the whole LWR thing.

This year is all about preparation - bikes, equipment, bodies. Did I mention I'm a not-so-young woman and slightly scared? :helpsmilie:

Anyway, thanks in advance for all the information and good advice that I am bound to find on this forum.

*Inagh being our local village in Co. Clare

mmmmnnnn bye the way age doesn't mater to much it's how you feel that's important. You say you are preparing the bikes, equipment & body, oke the body is important. I am also from the older generation but I do yoga & pilates to keep the old body moving. We just do things slower & have more fun doing 'em :scooter: :D.
There are also off road courses in Ireland, saw one advertised not so long ago in cork. Or wait for another date in Wales, I love Wales. I am Irish bye the way Co. Louth, but started travelling at an early age, left the country & am now based in Holland, but I go backwards & forwards. If at all poss do the full HU meeting, gives you more chance to chat with people, get tips & see the amount of grey hair bikers enjoying life bier. I am trying to get across to it as well, but may have to settle for the German one weeks earlier instead :mchappy: .

Am also half planning a trip to Aussie through China or Birma as well. May also try for next year, but will see. Anyways just wanted to say hallo & go for it. Have fun Vince :cool4:

Thanks, Vince. As it happens, we were already booked to go to HU event at Donington Park, when we discovered that we could neatly (or not so neatly) shoe-horn it in between the ORS Adventure Maintenance course and a Level 1 off-road course.
