Hello from Georgia!

Nope, not the Eurasian Georgia, the "Hey Y'all" Georgia in Southeastern, US.

Happy to be here on the site! I just finished a ride throughout Alaska on a rented BMW 650GS over 2 weeks as my first off-road experience. I survived the Dalton Highway and got to tour around the Kenai Peninsula. I am currently planning a trip back to Alaska in March to stay with a couple I met on the Dalton and they've offered to take me on my first snowmachine trip! I can't wait!

I've been doing long distance riding for the past few years after "retiring" from trackdays on my red, white, and blue "Captain America" '93 Yamaha FZR600. I inherited my username back when I purchased my FZR as I promised I would keep the bike as close to stock as it currently was and would continue on the "Captain America" legacy. My first long distance trip was an 8 day, 5,200 mile trip from Atlanta to Nova Scotia and back on my 2002 Yamaha YZF600 just so I could tent camp on the Cabot Trail.

I'm looking forward to planning more long distance rides and hopefully doing some multi-continent rides in the future! I still haven't seen most of the US, so my short-term goal is to ride in all 50 states (of which, I've ridden in 20 states so far).

I'm hoping to attend the HU Event in North Carolina in September and look forward to meeting other HU members there and throughout my travels!

Tiff

Hi Tiff and welcome,
If there is anything you need to know there is probably someone here who knows it. Check put the communities as well, they are a great source of advice and information about specific places.

New to Horizons Unlimited?

New to motorcycle travelling? New to the HU site? Confused? Too many options? It's really very simple - just 4 easy steps!

Horizons Unlimited was founded in 1997 by Grant and Susan Johnson following their journey around the world on a BMW R80G/S.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
