Hello from Colorado Springs, CO USA

Hello HUBB Riders:
This is Chuck, checking in from Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA where a riding buddy and I have started a new "community house" for riders.

Adventure Headquarters Community House is a labor of love, housed in a funky shop space that serves as gathering place for riders, fostering community among dual-sport motorcyclists in Colorado. Eventually it will serve as a meeting spot for rides, DIY bike wrenching, tech days, adventure planning, and a place to hold talks, demonstrations, and workshops. We also provide a place for out-of-town adventurers to plan trips and leave cars and trailers so that they can tour Colorado on motorcycle.

We don't accept money, but operate on a barter/co-op/pay-it-forward system. Right now we're accepting tool donations so that we can outfit a public "shop" area. We also strongly suggest that riders who use our services make donations to organizations that promote access for motorcycles to public lands and trail maintenance in Colorado.

We're just getting rolling -- our kick-off event is May 9, 2009 when we'll be hosting a Book Signing and Talk by Lois Pryce of Lois on the Loose fame! All are welcome, so if you find yourself in the area, please stop by.

I'll post up more details about Lois's visit as soon as I figure out where to put the event notice on the HUBB web site.

We'll that's it for now. See you 'round.

That sounds pretty cool. I'd like to check it out when I come through in August. Do you have coordinates/email/website?

I'd really appreciate some tips of roads/routes/tent space to experience in the CO area. I may be just another texan coming to colorado on vacation =]

So if I get back to the Springs one day (lived there 10 years working at the USOTC) I have a place to stay? since my ex won't let me stay with her anymore!

Hey daveg:
Our very simple web site is www.advhq.com. There's an email link on the site.
Coordinates:
38.8788869, -104.8187456
N38° 52.7332', W104° 49.1247'
Happy to help with roads, routes, tent space advice.

Will you be riding your lil' Strom? That info will help with route planning, etc.

Texans on vacation are always welcome here. Just don't get any wild ideas about sticking around!

Hey quastdog:
As of now, we don't have accommodations. However, we can certainly make recommendations for cheap places to stay locally, and perhaps find space for a tent in somebody's back yard.

Sorry about the ex...ouch.

Ha.. its been a while since I've updated the profile!

If I can get my seat, I'll be on my DRZ-400. Worst case, I'll be on my f650gs. I dont have much of a plan other than I have two weeks and I want to see mountains.

That's the way to do it!

Your DRZ will definitely allow access to terrain where you wouldn't have fun on your gs. Give us a shout as your plans firm up. We're happy to help out any way we can.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
