Greetings from Wimbledon, finally!

Woops! I've posted already without an introduction, so I hope you'll excuse me...

Grew up in Australia, worked in IT in London for the past 12 years or so and have had the pleasure of discovering the northern hemisphere. And now with the inspiration of this site (thanks to the great work of Grant, Susan and everyone who's contributed) planning a 2 year RTW aiming to depart Aug 2013.

Looking forward to HU UK next year and hopefully will meet some of you there.

Thanks and Travel Well >>

Charles

Thanks Belle.

Planning a 2 year (or more, most likely!) RTW from Aug 2013. Kazakhstan, Western China (probably the 219... have started a thread on this in Route Planning and will update it as I progress with the bureaucracy) Nepal and Northern India will be my first leg of at least 6 months if not a year.

After which I've decided not to do any further planning... one can get swamped by detailed plans and then you are living to a strict timetable! Having done this for the first 47 years of my life I don't intend to repeat it!

So to allow for maximum living experience and serendipity I will take it pretty slowly. Am keen to spend at least a month in many spots and in some spots 3 months in order to absorb the culture. Have just tried searching HU on where people think are some of the best camping spots on the planet but for some reason the search didn't work... will persist further.

Have just seen some of your posts... sounds like you're quite an adventurer... am also thinking of the Caspian Sea but maybe in Sept after the midgies?!

Just booked into HUBB UK for next May/June which promises to be very helpful, especially on the eve of my trip. Are you already planning your next adventure?

Charles

Thanks!

Thanks Zandesiro, enjoyed reading about your trip to Lake Como etc - what bad luck with the bearings!

Are you on a new trip or at the planning stage?

Thanks guys - would love to. I've been living in the Peloponnese for a few months (we're harvesting the olives at present to produce the most divine oil imaginable!) and will return to London mid Dec. So if we can squeeze in a pre-Yuletide drink that would be great - will send you a PM in due course.

Cool, when you're done there you can come and help me on my little olive grove in Corsica, needs some TLC for sure!
Hope to meet soon

Cheers

Hey Charles,

The next big trip will be round Oz on postie bikes - not the Postie bike rally but just wandering around the place to see what we can see. But before that its probably going to be scooters around Turkey in June. No planning though, other than just a vague route and the right visas. Can't be doing with any of that expectation stuff.
