Colorado Rider
 

Three of us from Colorado (2 F650 Dakars and 1 DR650) will be making a large loop: Europe-Turkey-Central Asia-Mongolia-Russia-Europe this spring/summer. I've picked up a lot of good info here and decided I should quit lurking and say hi from Colorado.

Seems to be at least a handful of people here going out that way. Maybe we'll see you on the road somewhere.

Welcome from another HUBB newbie!

How are you guys getting your bikes over? Where are you starting from in the EU? I thought of flying over and buying a Yam Tenere' locally. I have a local address in the UK, and another in Netherlands.

Most Euro countries don't sell the DR but the BMW 650's are pretty cheap, relative to US.

How long will you all be on the road?

We'll be shipping the bikes in a container by boat from Florida as arranged through Knopftours. Starting our ride in Germany 1 May and finishing back up again in Frankfurt about 1 Sept.

I considered buying a bike in Europe but I like to travel on a bike I'm familiar with and I've spent some time getting mine upgraded the way I want it.
