Hi from London on the road to Morocco

Hi Guys,

I have been a very long time unregistered reader (10 years plus ) of this fine forum but never registered as I never had anything to contribute. I simply enjoyed everyone else's journey! Not much has changed..... except the registered bit

As an Aussie stranded in London, I am breaking free for a few months by heading to Morocco to reacquaint myself with camping and wide open spaces. Maybe some warmth too???? If anyone is about in Morocco, let me know and help me find a

I'm heading out on a Yamaha XT660R armed with Chris Scott's guide to crash test the bike.

While I'm riding a Yamaha this time, don't expect me to enter a brand war... the F650GS (single) is staying in the garage, I have a Ducati marooned in Austria and a Dommie waiting patiently for my return in Oz.

Anyway, thanks all for providing/contributing t a fantastic site with a wealth of information that has inspired me over the years - ride on!

Cheers,
Dale

Thanks

Thanks for the Guys.

Bertrand, no problem with the local customs. I do try not to be an ignorant traveller, but I certainly can't claim to be perfect on that front. However, I am aware that there are two local breweries and it would be a shame not to sample some of the local produce while not causing a scene

Now, back to packing and panicking about being under-prepared

I do hope you don't feel I suggested anything derogatory Dale! it is just that I have seen (sadly) too many bikers boozing openly in public to the 'plastered' stage and have observed local reaction... which is sad.
IMHO, Morocco will end up 'spoilt' as a destination one day because of this and other lack of consideration as well as wreckless biking and 4x4 behaviour
Have a safe journey and a fabulous time- Enjoy the camel and prunes tagines too !

Bertrand - no offence taken and I welcome the comment as that is what I hoped to find on this resource.... meaning tips and knowledge being shared with fellow travellers from time to time.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
